In the last weekend we visited our dear friends in Terranova di Pollino, tour operators who for years, with passion and love for their land, offer hospitality to Italian and foreign visitors.
For dinner we went back to Picchio Nero, to our friend Pino who pleasantly shocked us with his dishes. Cuisine and territory, what a combination! Stories, recipes and anecdotes described with poetry by a magician of the stove. An experience to be combined with two or three days of trekking on this side of the Pollino Massif.
Back at Casa del Conte, Isabella was waiting for us for lunch at La Garavina. We tasted the “mischiglio”, a pasta made with a mixture of cereal and legume flours, topped with cherry tomatoes, cacioricotta cheese and raw peppers.

A weekend to discover the immense natural heritage of the Pollino National Park. In the first day we will reach the top of Mount Pollino (2248 m.), through the southern slope of the massif and passing in an area where the Loricate Pine reigns alone.

These beautiful botanical endemisms will surprise us with their centuries-old specimens. In spite of their apparent state of decomposition, they stand out on the slopes of the mountain with their characteristic albino wood, almost as if to underline the limits of their reign.

Romantic weekend pollino
I was a guest of the very nice and competent guides Rocco and Emanuele. Thanks to them I spent a wonderful day in Sasso di Castalda and Satriano. Beautiful villages to visit going into the alleys, exciting crossing the Tibetan bridge and tasty lunch recommended by the guides.
